The Yucca Valley Planning Commission will convene tonight at 6 p.m. to discuss four separate native plant permits. Reporter Joshua King has more details…
The Planning Commission and other agencies have been the subject of much public outcry as of late surrounding the Center for Biological Diversity’s petition to recognize the Western Joshua Tree as an endangered species. The last planning commission meeting proved controversial after members of the public levied accusations of improper permit handling and oversight towards the commission. In response, tonight’s meeting will cover four active native plant permits and the commission will vote to approve or disapprove them. Given the trend of public scrutiny over local government proceedings, the meeting is expected to be a rather crucial one.
