The Yucca Valley Planning Commission met this week. Managing Editor Tami Roleff says commissioners are hitting the books…
In the second of what is expected to take six meetings, the Yucca Valley Planning Commission heard an update at its meeting Tuesday, about a revision of the Town’s development code. Town Manager Shane Stueckle stressed the Planning Department is trying to make the development code easy to use and understand, with clear and specific standards that require a minimum of interpretation. At incorporation in 1991, the Town inherited a development code from the County that was 674 pages long, and it has since been added to, with updates, sign ordinances, night sky ordinances, etc. For more than two hours, planning commissioners heard about making the code easy to use and understand; requiring the appropriate infrastructure to be provided for new development; maintaining Yucca Valley as the Morongo Basin’s economic hub; and preserving the Town’s desert character.
