YUCCA VALLEY PLANNING COMMISSION SPLITS ON WIND TURBINES, HEARS UPDATE ON BUILDING

The Yucca Valley Planning Commission met last night. Managing editor Tami Roleff says the split on wind turbines and got a construction update…

The Yucca Valley Planning Commission was divided on residential wind turbines, as the commissioners discussed the draft development code at its meeting last night. Commissioner Steve Whitten spoke up for allowing the wind turbines on any size lot, while the other commissioners thought lot sizes should be a minimum of one acre. The commissioners will revisit the issue at a future meeting. In other news, the commissioners learned that the Town has two single family homes in the plan check stage, with another two expected, and one permit already issued earlier this year. This compares to zero building permits issued last year. Sod was rolled out at the Brehm sports park yesterday, and a construction fence was put in place at the site of the future senior housing project on Dumosa Avenue and the highway. Shelving and fixtures are expected to be installed in the new Super Walmart in about two weeks.
