The Yucca Valley Planning Commission met last night to discuss accessory structures and a definition of short-term vacation rentals. Managing editor Tami Roleff fills in what they discussed…
The Yucca Valley Planning Commission held a public hearing last night on reviewing sections of the development code concerning residential accessory structures. Staff recommended limiting the number of accessory structures with full kitchens to one; requiring the placement of accessory structures on lots of 5 acres or less be behind the primary residence, and allowing them anywhere on parcels of 5 acres or more; requiring cargo containers have foundations and be architecturally treated so they don’t look like cargo containers; and changing architectural standards for accessory structures so that they are similar in appearance to the primary residence. The commission also agreed that the short-term vacation rental ordinance does not include “guest houses” that do not include cooking facilities.
