YUCCA VALLEY PLANNING COMMISSION POSTPONES CELL TOWER HEARING

Residents of Yucca Mesa are unhappy about a proposed 52-foot tall cell phone tower—disguised to look like a water tower—that is supposed to be constructed on the southwest corner of Aberdeen Drive and Sage Avenue. Managing editor Tami Roleff says their complaints to the town of Yucca Valley are paying off…
At the request of Verizon and its project manager, the Yucca Valley Planning Commission postponed its public hearing last night on the proposed cell phone tower. Commissioners learned that the project managers met with nearby residents and town staff last week to work out a compromise for a location for the tower and possible new design. Residents and planning commissioners both expressed their appreciation that everyone was willing to listen to each other and come to an agreement. The environmental assessment and conditional use permit are scheduled to be back before the planning commission at its February 23 meeting. In other business, the commissioners approved, with little coment, a subdivision of the Gateway Pawn parcel at Palm Avenue into two lots.

The Gateway Pawn shop parcel will be divided behind the shop.
