The Yucca Valley Planning Commission held its third meeting last night to review revisions to its development code. Commissioner Vickie Bridenstine pointed out the differences between how the public perceives mass grading–“Rape, pillage, totally reconfiguring the landscape”—and how developers view mass grading—”reconfiguration of existing landform to where drainage patterns are altered.” Also discussed were the undergrounding of utilities, street lighting and the night sky ordinance, and conditional use permits. The Planning Commissioners also learned that the senior housing project should break ground in the next 60 days, along with the realignment of Dumosa Avenue at the highway, and the installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection. The signal’s estimated cost of $471,000 will be paid out of Measure I funds.
