The Yucca Valley Planning Commission approved several measures related to Western Joshua Trees last night (December 14), and town staff provided an update on when short-term vacation rental regulations would go before the Town Council. Reporter Jef Harmatz has the details.
At last night’s regularly scheduled meeting, the planning commission approved the transplant of two Western Joshua Trees and three Mojave Yuccas in the 6200 block of Mirlo Lane, pending a final letter from the arborist. The commission also approved the encroachment of eight Western Joshua Trees (on the 7700 block of Elk Trail, the 7400 block of Condalia Ave, 57000 block of Sierra Way, the 7600 block of Dumosa Blvd, and the 7400 block of Cherokee Trail), the removal of two dead detached Western Joshua Trees (on the 7500 block of Fox Trail and the 6600 block of Hanford Ave) and the removal of two Mojave Yuccas (on the 58000 block of Douglas Lane) at locations across town. Town staff indicated that the commission’s revised regulations for vacation rentals would be presented to the Town Council at their January 18 meeting. Finally, the commission announced that they have canceled their last meeting of 2021, which was previously scheduled for December 28.
