YUCCA VALLEY PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN A HIT AND RUN, SUSPECT SOUGHT

A Yucca Valley pedestrian was killed early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run collision. According to the Sheriff’s Department, about 2 a.m., Jerrod Cary, 32, was walking southbound on Avalon Avenue just south of Sunnyslope Drive when he was hit by a 2007 gray Nissan Maxima, which was traveling northbound on Avalon. Following the collision, the driver did not stay at the scene. Cary was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center where he died at 3:25 a.m. The abandoned car, which had damage consistent with the crash, was located nearby. Deputies have interviewed witnesses at the site of the collision and where the car was found abandoned. Anyone with additional information should call Deputy Wayne Greer at 760-366-4175.
