YUCCA VALLEY OKTOBERFEST WINNERS

More than 1,000 people attended the third annual Oktoberfest in Yucca Valley October 10. The Yucca Valley Rotary Club, along with the Chamber of Commerce, has announced the winners of the contests. Dakota Inman and Kayden Andrade won the children’s costume contest. Taking first place in the girls’ stick pony relay race was Chloe Robbins, with Violet Robbins in second. For the boys, winners were Jesse Robbins in first place and Matt Fawl in second. The women’s keg toss was won by Wendy Andrade; Andy Cameron won the men’s division. Ryan Dougherty and Tim Henry won the log-sawing contest in 49 seconds. Stephanie Gutierrez won the women’s division of the stein holding contest with 3 minutes and 27 seconds; Matt Shortway held his stein for 4 minutes, 15 seconds. The final event was the (non-alcoholic) beer guzzling contest, which was won by Ryan Dougherty in about a second. Rotary Club president Jill Akalski thanked all the volunteers, sponsors, and attendees, and says the club is already looking forward to next year.
