With the results in for the Yucca Valley Town Council election, Jason Elsasser is hopeful for the enactment of an ordinance that would allow medical marijuana dispensaries to operate in the town. With a majority of members of the next council having expressed at least qualified support for permitting dispensaries, Elsasser also hopes that this can be accomplished directly by the Council, sparing the Town and his organization, Alliance for Safe Access, the expense of a special election. Jason Elsasser added that a doctor who has been visiting Yucca Valley weekly has conducted medical marijuana evaluations for nearly 800 local residents, with the majority of those over 50 years of age. He added that the draft ordinance he submitted was drafted by a lawyer with experience in the field, and specifies limits on the number of dispensaries, distances from schools, and other restrictions.
