A rifle that had been reported stolen in July turned up Friday during a welfare check of a Yucca Valley man, and the man was subsequently arrested. On July 17, a resident in the 57900 block of Hidden Gold Drive in Yucca Valley reported a burglary in which 23 firearms had been stolen. One of the stolen weapons was a Ted Williams .22-caliber rifle. On Friday, October 26, deputies made a welfare check on a man in the 56700 block of Free Gold Drive in Yucca Valley where they contacted Brandon Doering, 28. Doering had in his possession a Ted Williams .22-caliber rifle. The burglary victim was contacted who positively identified the rifle as one of the firearms stolen from his home. Brandon Doering was arrested for investigation of being in possession of a stolen firearm, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000.
