YUCCA VALLEY MAN WHO SHOT A MAN, THEN WAS SHOT BY DEPUTIES, IN COURT TODAY

The Yucca Valley man accused of shooting another Yucca Valley man early Wednesday morning, and who was himself shot by deputies in Morongo Valley, will be in court today to face eight charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and felony evading. About 2:14 a.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to the 7400 block of Elk Trail in Yucca Valley where Roger Tindell, 36, of Morongo Valley, allegedly shot a 43-year-old man in the head and then left in a silver BMW with a 24-year-old woman. Deputies quickly located Tindell driving the BMW and began a pursuit to Morongo Valley. Tindell recorded a portion of the pursuit and posted it to Facebook. In the recording, he introduced the woman with him, told her he was not going to kill her but was just using her as a hostage so the deputies wouldn’t shoot at the car, called her “babe,” and said he loved her. Tindell told the woman to cover her ears, and then fired six shots.

The pursuit ended when Tindell crashed at San Jacinto Street and Mojave Drive in Morongo Valley. Tindell was shot by deputies and was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs before being transferred to West Valley Detention Center. Roger Tindell is facing two charges of attempted murder against Deputies Jacob Tiel and Ricardo Rodriguez, as well as attempted murder against Deputies Jonathan Holt, Eric Gonzalez, and Sergeant Steve Everhart, as well as seven counts of attempted murder of a police officer, with felony enhancements for discharging and using a firearm. Tindell’s bail is set at $1 million. Roger Tindell is also a suspect in a double homicide in Henderson, Nevada. The 43-year-old Yucca Valley victim is at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs with serious injuries.
