YUCCA VALLEY MAN TAKES PLEA BARGAIN IN ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE

A Yucca Valley man charged with attempting to murder his roommate last year accepted a plea bargain yesterday. In return for dropping the attempted murder charge, Andrew Hinman, 45, pleaded guilty to assault with a firearm on a person, with enhancements of using a firearm and gross bodily injury on a person, in a Joshua Tree courtroom yesterday. In the pre-dawn hours of August 8 last year, Hinman was arguing with his roommate, Christopher Greco, in the 57400 block of Chipmunk Trail when he shot him once in the arm with a shotgun. Greco was treated and released from Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Hinman has been free on $1.8 million bail since September. Andrew Hinman is scheduled to be sentenced on July 24.
