YUCCA VALLEY MAN TAKES PLEA BARGAIN IN 2017 JOSHUA TREE MURDER

A Yucca Valley man pleaded guilty Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter in the death of a Joshua Tree man. In September 2017, a man walking his dog in a wash near Aberdeen Drive east of Sunfair found the body of Jesse Stoneburner, 32, and his death was determined to be suspicious. Anthony Colegio, 24, was arrested a few days later, accused of murdering Stoneburner. On Wednesday, November 21, Colegio agreed to a plea bargain, in which the murder charges were dropped and he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter with an enhancement for prior felony convictions for assault and vehicle theft. Anthony Colegio has nine other misdemeanor and felony convictions in San Bernardino courts since he turned 18 in 2012. He is due to be sentenced for his voluntary manslaughter charge January 18.
