A Yucca Valley man suspected of arson in the fire of a home over a year ago was arrested Thursday night. On July 5, 2016, the owner of a home in the 1300 block of Inca Trail was told her rental home—from which James Shropshire, 65, had just been evicted—was on fire. Responding firefighters discovered all the home’s windows had been broken and a fire had been started in the master bedroom’s walk-in closet. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Shropshire had told the owner that he was going to burn everything down. James Shropshire was arrested on a $450,000 warrant for arson, and on warrants for vandalism, driving under the influence, and carrying a loaded firearm in public, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his total bail set at $460,000.
