YUCCA VALLEY MAN SHOT AND KILLED BY ARIZONA POLICE AFTER HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT

UPDATES FROM AN EARLIER STORY

A Yucca Valley man was killed after a high-speed pursuit that started in Yucca Valley and ended in Arizona in an officer-involved shooting. Just before 11 a.m. Thursday, a Morongo Basin Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a white Ford Focus near Dumosa Avenue and Onaga Trail in Yucca Valley. The driver, Christian Albarran, 27, was known to have felony warrants for his arrest for domestic violence (no bail) and identity theft ($250,000). Albarran refused to stop and drove off at a high speed westbound on Highway 62. Deputies pursued Albarran until the CHP took over in Rancho Mirage on Interstate 10. Albarran managed to make it to the Arizona-California border when another pursuit ensued with Arizona State Troopers. At milepost 1, in Ehrenberg, Arizona state troopers and a La Paz County Sheriff’s deputy shot at Albarran. No troopers were injured; Christian Albarran was killed in the shooting. The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating.
