YUCCA VALLEY MAN ROBBED AT GUNPOINT IN CHURCH PARKING LOT

A Yucca Valley man who thought he was going to be repaid a loan he had made was instead robbed at gunpoint Sunday, according to the Sheriff’s Department. About four months ago, the victim made a loan of $400 to the suspect, whom he knew from attending the same church. Then on Sunday, the suspect told the victim he wanted to repay the loan and asked him to meet him at another church located in the 7300 block of Lucerne Vista in Yucca Valley. When the victim arrived just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, the suspect was with two other men in a dark colored Honda. The victim told deputies that the men got out of their car and pointed a gun at him, making him fear for his life, told him to open his trunk, and then tied him to his steering wheel with a shoelace. Investigators say the suspects stole about $3000 in power tools from the victim before fleeing. The Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
