YUCCA VALLEY MAN KILLED IN A THOUSAND PALMS CRASH

A 56-year-old Yucca Valley man was killed in a crash in Thousand Palms Tuesday night. The California Highway Patrol said the man, whose identity has not been released yet, was driving westbound on Ramon Road, just west of Robert Road, about 10:45 p.m. when his 2017 Nissan Sentra drifted onto the right shoulder and slammed into the rear of a semi-truck that was parked with its hazard lights on. The big rig driver was sleeping inside the semi-truck’s sleeper compartment and was not injured in the crash. The CHP said the Yucca Valley man was not wearing his seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP said it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
