A Yucca Valley man was critically injured in a crash Tuesday evening. According to Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Arthurton, Orrin Maywood, 39, was driving his 2001 Honda Accord eastbound on Onaga Trail. As he approached Palomar Avenue, he came up behind another vehicle about 7:20 p.m. and attempted to pass it by crossing over solid double yellow lines. Maywood lost control of his car, and drove onto the dirt shoulder on the north side of the road before crossing Onaga Trail to the south shoulder where it hit an asphalt curb. Maywood’s Honda overturned and came to rest on its roof. Orrin Maywood was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries. His passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.
