YUCCA VALLEY MAN HITS SKATEBOARDER, ACCUSED OF DUI

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Wednesday, accused of hitting a skateboarder while high on drugs. Deputies say that Brandon Record, 35, was driving a Saturn sedan southbound on Avalon Avenue about 11:25 a.m. Wednesday. As he approached Palisade Drive, a 21-year-old man rode a skateboard west across Avalon Avenue and was hit by Record’s car. The victim was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs with major injuries; he is reported to be in stable condition. Deputies determined that Record was high at the time of the crash. Brandon Record was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of drugs and causing bodily injuries; booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,00.
