YUCCA VALLEY MAN HELD AFTER BEATING TWO PEOPLE IN JOSHUA TREE

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Tuesday morning for beating up two people. According to a Sheriff’s report, a witness called authorities about 11 a.m. to report that a man was hitting a woman inside a vehicle at Hill View Road at Division Street in Joshua Tree, and he threw a phone out the vehicle’s window. The witness then reported he saw the man, later identified as Luis Monroy, 29, choking the woman, who appeared to be pregnant. The witness told dispatchers that when Monroy saw the witness, he walked over and told him to leave the area, at which time the witness drove around the block. Shortly after, a tow truck arrived at the scene, and Monroy is alleged to have started beating the tow truck driver. After an investigation, Luis Monroy was arrested on suspicion of felony spouse abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
