YUCCA VALLEY MAN EJECTED FROM MOVING BRONCO, MAY LOSE FOOT

A Banning man may lose his foot after being ejected from a moving vehicle Sunday afternoon. According to Fire Captain Dan Munsey, about 3 p.m. Sunday, an open-air Bronco without a top on it was traveling southbound on Warren Vista in Landers when it hit a bump at Winters Road. The bump caused the 21-year-old Alex Cox, who was not wearing a seatbelt, to be thrown out the top of the Bronco, and in the process, his foot was nearly severed at the ankle. The victim was flown by Mercy Air to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Captain Munsey said the driver told paramedics he was only driving 20 miles per hour when he hit the bump.
