YUCCA VALLEY MAN CAUGHT STEALING A WATER TANK

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Friday night, accused of trying to steal a water tank from a foreclosed home. According to a Sheriff’s report, a neighbor called the Sheriff’s Department about 8 p.m. to report that a man, later identified as Rusty Scoggins, 53, was loading a large water tank from a bank-owned home into a flat-bed trailer in the 55600 block of Pipes Canyon Road. When the neighbor confronted Scoggins, Scoggins told him he worked for a fencing company. Scoggins then fled in his truck with the water tank, pursued by the neighbor, driving at speeds up to 100 miles per hour on Old Woman Springs Road and Aberdeen Drive. The report states that Scoggins eventually kicked the water tank off the trailer. Deputies caught up to Rusty Scoggins and arrested him for investigation of attempted grand theft, booked him at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000.
