A Yucca Valley man was arrested in Twentynine Palms on Tuesday after a traffic stop revealed drugs and a Billy club. According to Sherriff’s logs, deputies conducted a traffic stop just after 11 p.m. on a vehicle matching the description of a suspect vehicle they were looking for near Highway 62 and Adobe Road. Deputies reported that the suspect, identified as Matthew Esquibel, 42, was uncooperative and resisting and had to be removed from the vehicle by force. While Esquibel was being detained, a plastic bag fell from his pocket that allegedly contained meth. During a search of Esquibel’s vehicle, deputies also report locating two Billy clubs. Matthew Esquibel was arrested for investigation of possessing drugs and a weapon other than a firearm and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
