A Yucca Valley man was arrested last week, accused of possessing a controlled substance while armed. According to a Sheriff’s press release, deputies responded to a disturbance on the 6300 block of Koehler Avenue in Joshua Tree on February 9 just before 4 p.m. Arriving deputies reportedly contacted John Ligon, 24 of Yucca Valley, and conducted a search warrant at the property. During the search warrant, deputies reported that they recovered a 9 mm handgun with several magazines of ammunition, a large amount of suspected fentanyl, and counterfeit fentanyl pills, with suspected methamphetamine. John Ligon was subsequently arrested for investigation of possession of a controlled substance while armed and booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000.
