A Yucca Valley man was caught up in a nine-day sting operation conducted by Rancho Cucamonga police that arrested nine men who thought they were meeting a 14-year-old boy for sex. According to authorities, all the suspects started chatting with undercover detectives who were pretending to be a 14-year-old boy on an unmonitored social media app. The decoy and the suspects chatted back and forth for various lengths of time, and all the men except one sent nude photos of themselves to the decoy. All the men arranged to meet the decoy in a park or parking lot in Rancho Cucamonga where they could engage in sex.
On August 15, Jamie Bosworth, 36, of the 200 block of Deer Trail in Yucca Valley, went to Rancho Cucamonga to meet the decoy and was detained by detectives about 4:20 p.m. in a location near Foothill Boulevard and Interstate 215. Jamie Bosworth was arrested for investigation of sending harmful matter to a minor, arranging to meet a minor for sex acts, and meeting a minor for sex acts. Bosworth was booked into West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $250,000. His next court appearance is September 12. Detectives believe that Jamie Bosworth and the other suspects may have met other teenage boys for sex.
On August 10, Christopher Ramirez, 37, of Upland, was contacted and arrested. Ramirez was found to be a registered Sex Offender and was on Felony Probation out of LA County for similar acts. Ramirez has since gone to court for this case and was convicted of PC 288.4 (b) – Meet a Minor for Sexual Acts. Ramirez was sentenced to three years in state prison.
On August 14, Javier Armijo, 44, of Wildomar, was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center after he drove to Rancho Cucamonga from Wildomar. Armijo remains in custody in lieu of $275,000 bail. Detectives determined Armijo is a school teacher by trade but is not currently employed at any school. Armijo has previously taught at various schools in the Temecula Valley area. His next court date is September 12 at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court, Department R-19.
On August 15, Shadi Al-Abdual Razaq, 33, of Rancho Cucamonga, was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center. Alabdual-Razaq posted bail and was released from custody on August 17. His next court date is October 17 at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court.
On August 15, Roberto Silva, 52, of Rancho Cucamonga, was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center. Silva posted bail and was released from custody on August 16. His next court date is October 17 at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court.
On August 15, 2018, Bosworth was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center, after he drove to Rancho Cucamonga from Yucca Valley. Bosworth remains in-custody in lieu of $250,000 bail. His next court date is September 12, 2018, at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court, Department R-19.
On August 17, Charles Patrick Mayer, 55, of Menifee, was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center after he drove to Rancho Cucamonga from Banning. Mayer remains in custody in lieu of no bail. Detectives determined that Mayer was the dean of students at Nicolet Middle School in Banning. His next court date is September 26 at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court, Department R-15.
Through investigation, detectives learned that Charles Mayer was ordained as a priest of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 1996 and served at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Northridge, CA from 1996 to 2000. He has been on inactive leave as a priest, not in ministry, since September of 2000 due to a failure to adhere to archdiocesan policies concerning interaction with youth and young adults.
Detectives have been in contact with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and they have fully cooperated with the investigation.
Detectives also learned that Charles Mayer previously taught at and was the vice principal at various religious-based schools in the cities of Menifee and Vista since 2000.
Detectives were made aware of possible inappropriate behavior involving students at those schools, and possible students within the Banning School District. Detectives are looking into those reports to determine if criminal acts occurred.
On August 21, Dave Quinn, 47, of Stanton, was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center, after he drove to Rancho Cucamonga from Yorba Linda. Quinn had discussed picking up the minor child and taking him back to his motel room in Yorba Linda. Quinn remains in-custody in lieu of $600,000 bail. His next court date is August 30, 2018, at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court, Department R-19.
On August 22, Anthony Pedregon, 25, of Rancho Cucamonga, was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center. Pedregon remains in custody in lieu of $250,000 bail. His next court date is September 4 at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court, Department R-19. Pedregon is the only suspect who did not send the decoy a nude photo of himself.
On August 22, Daen Al-Kubaisi, 29 of Rancho Cucamonga, was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center. Al-Kubaisi remains in-custody in lieu of $350,000 bail. His next court date is September 4 at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court, Department R-19.
