Yucca Valley man arrested in Hit and Run investigation

An investigation into a hit and run in July that resulted in two victims being airlifted to the hospital has led to an arrest of the suspected driver, according to a press release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff. Yucca Valley resident David Alderson was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 7 for suspected felony hit and run. The detectives served a search warrant at a residence in the 58800 block of Yucca Trail, where Alderson was taken into custody without incident. During the search of the property, detectives recovered the 2005 Red Ford Mustang identified as the suspect vehicle in the hit and run collision.

The Hit and Run occurred late at night on July 15th in Twentynine Palms near Sullivan Road and Bullion Avenue. Two men in their 60’s were riding tandem on a bicycle with the flow of traffic when they were allegedly struck from behind by the suspected vehicle. Both victims had major injuries and were airlifted to a local trauma center. They have since been released and continue to recover. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and couldn’t be located during the initial investigation.

Sheriff Deputy J. Sumpter developed leads in the case and identified the suspect vehicle as the red 2005 Ford Mustang. Debris from the crash was used to identify the year, make, model and color of the car.

David Alderson was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for felony hit and run, where he is being held in lieu of $100,000.00 bail.
