Yucca Valley man arrested for investigation into attempted murder, child abuse, and kidnapping

On Tuesday, November 26, at around 3:30 p.m. Gabriel Baker, 22, was contacted by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies in the Stater Bros east plaza on Twentynine Palms Highway in Yucca Valley. Baker was arrested on suspicion of numerous felony charges, including attempted murder, child abuse, domestic violence, false imprisonment, and driving with a suspended license. He was also found to have an active warrant in Orange County for driving under the influence.

A representative from the Sheriff’s Morongo Basin Station described the arrest as part of an ongoing investigation regarding child abuse and attempted murder, but has not yet provided additional details about the status of the victims or Baker’s arrest.

Gabriel Baker was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, child abuse with the possibility of great bodily injury, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or date, false imprisonment, battery, two counts of making criminal threats, driving on a suspended license, and an active warrant, and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $50,000 bail. Baker was arraigned on three felony charges on Tuesday, December 3, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, false imprisonment, and making criminal threats. He pleaded “not guilty” to all three charges.

Baker was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse and interfering with a wireless device in 2022.
