YUCCA VALLEY MAN ARRESTED FOR GRAND THEFT AUTO AND FLEEING FROM DEPUTIES

A Yucca Valley man was arrested after he attempted to flee from deputies early Sunday morning. Just before 2 a.m., a deputy spotted James Wire, 26, driving at a high rate of speed on the wrong side of the road on Old Woman Springs Road near Warren Way. When the deputy made a U-turn, Wire allegedly drove over 50 miles per hour through a residential area before his vehicle crashed into a Joshua tree and overturned. Wire was able to get out of his vehicle and fled on foot, but eventually complied with the deputy’s commands to stop. James Wire was arrested for investigation of felony failure to yield and grand theft auto and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $100,000.
