YUCCA VALLEY MAN ARRESTED AT GUNPOINT

A Yucca Valley man was arrested at gunpoint Saturday night after his girlfriend passed a note to a store clerk asking for help. According to a Sheriff’s report, a woman came in to the Circle K in Joshua Tree about 10 p.m. Saturday and handed the clerk a note which said her boyfriend had hit her, cut her with a knife, and had taken her cell phone. The clerk called 911 and a deputy arrived a few minutes later, and saw a man, later identified as Charles Williams, 28, of Yucca Valley—who matched the suspect’s description—running away on Center Street. The deputy located Williams hiding behind an air conditioner at a home in the 6300 block of El Reposo Street. The report states that Williams responded slowly to the deputy’s command to lie down, so the deputy ordered Williams to the ground at gunpoint, where he was subsequently taken into custody. Charles Williams was arrested for investigation of possession of nunchuks, child endangerment for leaving children home alone in the home, and being a felon in possession of ammunition. He was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $100,000.
