A Yucca Valley man has been arrested after a suspected DUI Crash killed another Yucca Valley man in Palm Springs Monday evening. The Palm Springs Police Department said they arrested 50-year-old Robert Garcia Jr. for investigation of driving under the influence of drugs causing a deadly crash which killed Keyon Parks, 39, also of Yucca Valley.
Investigators say Garcia Jr. was driving a sedan south on Sunrise Way at about 5:50 pm when he made a left-hand turn onto Amado Road in front of an oncoming SUV. Keyon Parks, a front passenger in the sedan, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, not identified, in the back was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver and a passenger in the SUV were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries following the crash.
Robert Garcia JR. was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio with his bail set at $300,000, for Murder, Gross Vehicular Manslaughter while Intoxicated, Vehicular Manslaughter with Gross Negligence, and DUI Drugs Resulting in Death, all felonies.
