About 8 p.m. Sunday, a deputy was assisting the California Highway Patrol with a pursuit of a vehicle that had refused to stop for a traffic violation. During the pursuit, the driver, later identified as Jonathan Terceira, 30, was in violation of several traffic laws. Terceira crashed his vehicle at Linda Lee Drive and Nelson Avenue in Yucca Valley. Terceira was taken into custody and allegedly admitted he was driving under the influence and was fleeing arrest because he did not want to go back to jail since he was on parole.
