YUCCA VALLEY MAN ARRESTED AFTER 20 MILE TWO-STATE PURSUIT

A Yucca Valley man was arrested following a 20-mile pursuit that started in Arizona and ended in California. According to Lieutenant Curt Bagby of the La Paz County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona, a patrol officer attempted to stop Matthew Beckett, who turns 30 today, in Parker, Arizona, for an unknown reason Monday afternoon. Bagby said Beckett accelerated away and ended up westbound on Highway 62. A mile east of Vidal Junction, Beckett drove his truck into the desert, where it became high-centered on a log. Beckett jumped out of the truck and ran, where he was chased down by deputies and taken into custody. Matthew Beckett was arrested for investigation of felony evading a police officer with wanton disregard for public safety, and for violating the terms of his probation. Beckett was sentenced to 3 years’ probation in October for attempted burglary. Matthew Beckett was booked at the Colorado River Station with his bail set at $100,000.
