A Yucca Valley man was arrested Thursday, accused of carjacking. Just before 3 p.m., a woman called the Sheriff’s department to report that her relative, Andrew Bessel, 29, had hit her and stolen her car. According to Sheriff reports, the victim was driving with Bessel in front of Walmart in Yucca Valley when they started arguing. At some point, a dog had jumped out of the vehicle and Bessel punched the victim. The victim got out of the car while Bessel retrieved the dog. After getting the dog back, Bessel got into the driver’s seat of the victim’s car while the victim refused to get back in, fearing she’d be assaulted again. Bessel then drove away in the car. When deputies arrived and searched the area, they located Bessel and the car. Andrew Bessel was arrested for investigation of carjacking and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $250,000.
