A Yucca Valley man was arrested after allegedly making several aggressive and threatening calls to 911, asking deputies to come fight him in the Walmart parking lot.
On Sunday (March 9) at 9:20 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says that Anthony Canada, 32, called 911 and cursed at the dispatcher, then demanded deputies respond so he could fight them. Deputies say they did not respond to Canada’s call, but forty minutes later responded to an unrelated call at the Walmart. Deputies say they were spotted by Canada, and he drove a vehicle towards the deputies at significant speed. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and took Canada into custody.
Deputies say that Canada is known for calling 911, and that they have responded several times to his home in Yucca Valley. They say has threatened the safety of law enforcement officers in the Morongo Basin several times, and that there are currently several open investigations involving Canada.
Anthony Canada was arrested on suspicion of threatening a public officer, resisting arrest, falsely reporting an emergency, and making annoying calls to 911, and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail on $30,000 bail. In addition to a felony charge of resisting arrest, he is facing nine misdemeanor charges for harassing 911 dispatchers.
