A Yucca Valley man was arrested Saturday, accused of felony vehicle registration fraud. Gabriel Perez, 33, was driving a pick-up truck on Highway 62 near Kickapoo Trail about 8:40 p.m. when he was stopped by a deputy for an inoperable license plate and brake lights. During the investigation, the deputy determined that the truck had a false registration tab for the truck, which had not been registered since 2018. There was a 2020 registration tab on the truck’s license plate that belonged to another vehicle; Perez allegedly admitted he knew someone had put a current sticker on the license plate when it was being repaired and he left it on. Gabriel Perez was arrested on suspicion of felony false vehicle registration, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and released on zero bail.
