A Yucca Valley man was arrested last week, accused of stealing his friend’s Jeep. According to a Sheriff’s report, the victim returned to his home in the 7300 block of Joshua Lane in Yucca Valley on January 3 at about 2 p.m. after a trip to the grocery store and discovered his white Jeep Patriot was missing. Parked in his driveway instead was a red SUV belonging to Winfield Hughett, 57. Deputies went to Hughett’s home in the 7400 block of Church Street and found the victim’s Jeep. Deputies say that Hughett admitted to entering the victim’s home, taking the car keys and driving the Jeep to his home. Winfield Hughett was arrested for investigation of burglary and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
