A Yucca Valley man originally arrested for probation violation has been accused of attempting to smuggle drugs inside his body into the Morongo Basin Jail. According to a Sheriff’s press release, Deputies contacted Keith Hunt, 36, in the 7600 block of Mariposa Trail in Yucca Valley on Thursday (July 22) just before 6 p.m. During an investigation, Deputies determined Hunt was not in compliance with the terms of his felony probation. Hunt was arrested and transported to the Morongo Basin Jail.

During their investigation, deputies developed leads that Hunt was concealing narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside his body. Deputies secured a warrant to perform a search. During the search, deputies recovered 54 counterfeit Oxycodone, suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, marijuana, and a hypodermic needle packaged in bindles inside his body. Deputies suspect that Hunt intended to bring the narcotics and controlled substances inside the jail. Keith Hunt was arrested for his probation violation warrant and for investigation of bringing a controlled substance or narcotics inside a jail facility, possession of narcotics for sale, and transportation and sales of narcotics and controlled substances. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center where he is being held without bail.
