A 23-year-old Yucca Valley man was arrested Monday, accused of slashing a woman with a knife. According to a Sheriff’s report, Deputy R. Alfaro was called to the 7900 block of Deer Trail in Yucca Valley about 1 a.m. for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. The woman said Gregg Salvador had asked her to “hook up” with him, and when she refused, he called her a name. A friend of the woman told Salvador intervened and told him to leave and not talk to her friend like that, at which time she said Salvador grabbed her by the throat and began to choke her. She said he then brandished his knife and cut the second woman on the left cheek and left shoulder. The deputy said Salvador tried to stab the woman a third time but the first woman pushed his hand away. Salvador then allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle and was apprehended by the California Highway Patrol on Highway 62 and Mount Lassen in Joshua Tree. The knife was found inside his vehicle. Gregg Salvador was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000. The woman was treated at Hi-Desert Medical Center.
