A Yucca Valley man was arrested after an in-depth Sheriff’s investigation Wednesday (August 11) accused of engaging in sexual acts with a child. According to Sheriff’s reports, Deputies responded to the 5000 block of Faith Lane in Yucca Valley on June 28 after receiving a report of alleged sexual abuse against a minor. Sheriff’s detectives conducted an investigation aided by State Investigators and representatives from Children and Family Services. During the investigation, Deputies identified Richard Harris, 61, of Yucca Valley as the suspect. The victim was previously removed from the location, which was found to be a foster home.
On Wednesday, August 11, at 8:34 a.m., Detectives executed a search warrant at Harris’ residence in the 5000 block of Faith Lane. Harris was contacted at the property during the search. Richard Harris was arrested for investigation of oral copulation of a child under ten years old. Detectives sought and received a bail enhancement for Harris due to the severity of the crime. Harris is currently being held without bail. The victim is currently in the custody of family.
