YUCCA VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF SETTING OFF AN IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Tuesday (June 22) accused of setting off an improvised explosive device in his back yard. According to a Sheriff’s press release, deputies responded around noon to a report of a subject shooting at a neighborhood dog in the 7600 block of Warren Vista Ave. in Yucca Valley. Responding deputies located Jerry Wagner, 65, at the scene. During their investigation, deputies found that Wagoner had not shot at any animals, but had built and discharged an improvised explosive device in his backyard that deputies referred to as a “bottle bomb” which they say posed no threat to the community. Detectives from the San Bernardino County Bombs and Arson Detail responded and, during a search of the property, located an additional device which was rendered safe. Jerry Wagoner was arrested for investigation of possession of an explosive device and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $150,000.
