One man is in custody, and Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a second man, following a robbery in Yucca Valley Monday. According to a Sheriff’s report, the victim had pulled his car over to the curb in the 7100 block of Sage Avenue. The victim told deputies that a man that he knew, identified as Forrest Jones, 25, came up to his car and sat in the front passenger seat. At that point, a second man, who had pulled a sweater up over his face, approached the driver’s side door and told the victim he had a gun and to hand over his wallet and cell phone. The victim thought it was a joke until Jones also told him to hand over his belongings. After the victim gave the unidentified man his wallet and cell phone, the man sprayed him with pepper spray through the open car window, and Jones and the other man fled. Deputies went to the 7100 block of Barberry Avenue where they found Jones. After an investigation, Forrest Jones was arrested on suspicion of felony robbery, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000. Forrest Jones is no stranger to law enforcement, with multiple appearances in court for receiving stolen property, vehicle theft, possession of dangerous drugs, and unlawful identity. Deputies are still searching for the second suspect.
