YUCCA VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY AFTER FLEEING THE SCENE OF A TRAFFIC COLLISION

A Yucca Valley man was arrested late Wednesday night (September 22) accused of receiving stolen property after fleeing the scene of a traffic collision. According to Sheriff’s reports, a deputy conducting a routine patrol on September 14 was called to the intersection of Avalon Avenue and Barron Drive in Yucca Valley around 1 a.m. for a report of a traffic collision. The deputy arrived on scene to find an abandoned 2006 Dodge truck and trailer. During the investigation, the deputy identified the driver of the vehicle as Craig Womack, 57, and determined the 1963 trailer being towed had been reported stolen. Around midnight Thursday (September 23), deputies contacted Womack at his residence in the 5400 block of Yucca Mesa Road. Womack admitted to the deputy to driving the truck and towing the trailer. Craig Womack was arrested for investigation of receiving stolen property and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
