YUCCA VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF HITTING ELDERLY MAN WITH CANE

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Saturday, accused of hitting an elderly man with a cane and pushing him to the ground. Deputies were called to a mobile home park in the 7400 block of Church Street in Yucca Valley about 12:30 p.m. Saturday where the victim said Rodney Demont, 44, hit him in the back with a cane, pushed him to the ground, and then fled in a car. Deputies located Rodney Demont and arrested him for investigation of assault with a weapon, booked him into the West Valley Detention Center, where he was released on $50,000 bail.
