YUCCA VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF FELONY EVASION AFTER HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT WITH DEPUTIES FRIDAY

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Friday night (September 24) accused of felony reckless evasion after leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit through Yucca Valley. According to Sheriff’s reports, deputies from the multiple Enforcement Team attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Anthony Avila, 53, for vehicle code violations around 8:30 p.m. Avila failed to yield, leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit for four miles, at times exceeding 100 miles per hour. Avila eventually stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Linda Lee Drive and David Avenue in Yucca Valley where Avila was taken into custody. Deputies learned that Avila was on probation. Anthony Avila was arrested for investigation of probation violation and felony reckless evasion of a peace officer. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $100,000.
