YUCCA VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF DUI AND RESISTING ARREST, DEPUTY USE-OF-FORCE UNDER INVESTIGATION

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Friday night (September 24) accused of DUI and resisting arrest. According to Sheriff’s reports, Deputies were called to the bowling alley in the 58100 block of Highway 62 in Yucca Valley just after 9:30 p.m. for a report that a suspect, later identified as Angel Castro, 32, was involved in a traffic collision in the parking lot. Castro was also intoxicated and was challenging business patrons to fight in the parking lot. Castro was believed to have fled the scene, however as Deputies arrived, they receive a call saying Castro had returned to the scene. The report stated that Castro was armed with a gun and was challenging patrons to fight inside the bowling alley.

Deputies entered the business and contacted Castro, who was uncooperative with deputies. As deputies attempted to detain Castro, a use of force occurred. No deputies were injured during the altercation and a use of force investigation is being conducted. Angel Castro was arrested for investigation of resisting arrest and DUI. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, where he was later cited and released.
