A Yucca Valley man was arrested Wednesday, after he crashed into another vehicle while allegedly driving under the influence. About 12:20 p.m., Mark Austin, 56, was driving his 2003 Ford Expedition northbound on Park Boulevard approaching the intersection of Highway 62. The California Highway Patrol says that due to his level of intoxication, Austin drove into a 2005 Ford F150, driven by Kathy Christensen, 63, of Joshua Tree, who was also traveling northbound on Park Boulevard. The right front of the Expedition crashed into the left rear of the F150. The force of the collision tore a wheel off the Expedition, but the vehicle kept going until it came to rest on the corner of Commercial Street and Park Boulevard, a block north of the collision. Austin, Christensen, and Christensen’s passenger, Mack Moran, 41, of Joshua Tree, all sustained minor injuries. Austin was transported to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Mark Austin was arrested for driving under the influence causing injury, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $100,000.
