YUCCA VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF ATTEMPTED MURDER

A Yucca Valley man was arrested Wednesday, accused of trying to kill his girlfriend. Deputies were called to the Desert Oasis Healthcare in Yucca Valley when the victim arrived to be treated for her injuries. The woman said that about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nelson Mora, 42, grabbed her by the right arm and threw her on the bed. He then grabbed her arm, which dislocated her shoulder. She said Mora climbed on top of her and kneed her several times in the head and face. She said he also choked her, placed a pillow over her face and suffocated her to the point she lost consciousness. When she regained consciousness, Mora refused to leave, and held her captive for 24 hours, before she was able to get away and seek medical help. Deputies located Mora about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 7800 block of Fox Trail in Yucca Valley. Nelson Mora was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $1 million.
