YUCCA VALLEY LOOKING FOR YOUTH BASKETBALL COACHES REFEREES

The Town of Yucca Valley is accepting applications for basketball coaches and referees for its 2021-22 Youth Basketball League. Reporter Ernest Figueroa has the details on how to apply…

For Coaches:

The Town is looking for positive individuals with a desire to teach skills and sportsmanship in its youth basketball league. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. No experience is necessary. Training and coaching resources are available to support volunteers. All applicants must be approved by the Community Services Department and complete the Town of Yucca Valley volunteer clearance process, including fingerprinting, TB test, and background check. This process is provided free of charge. You can apply at quickscores.com/yuccavalley or by visiting the Yucca Valley Community Center, Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

For Referees:

Successful applicants must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and players, skill in making prompt and equitable decisions in umpiring assigned games, and capability of performing regulatory and rule enforcement in officiating youth basketball games. Additional duties include monitoring proper conduct among players, coaches and fans, inspect the courts and impose penalties for rule infractions, and coordinate with scorekeepers.

Applicants must be at least age 16 (with guardian permission) and have the ability to work evenings and weekends on an “as scheduled” basis beginning January 8th through March 5th, 2022. Referees are paid per game according to grade division.
