YUCCA VALLEY LICENSE PLATE READER DETECTS STOLEN VEHICLE; LEADS TO RECOVERY OF THREE STOLEN VEHICLES

A Sonora man was arrested in Yucca Valley Wednesday after he was
found with stolen vehicles. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy’s automated license plate reader detected a stolen truck parked at the Denny’s restaurant at Sage Avenue and Highway 62. The driver, Richard Nelson, 32, was seen leaving the truck and hiding in bushes near the restaurant. The stolen truck was towing a stolen trailer, and on the trailer, was a stolen Jaguar. In Nelson’s pocket were the keys to the stolen Jaguar.  Richard Nelson was arrested for investigation of possession of stolen vehicles and on numerous warrants from Tuolumne County. Nelson was booked into Morongo Basin Jail with his total bail set at $300,000.
